Social Workers

Pediatric cardiology social workers understand that an illness and a hospitalization are not always planned and they are here to support you during your child’s stay. Our social workers follow families throughout their child’s admission(s) and provide services such as counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources. Our social workers are available to you on an outpatient basis if you choose to have your follow-up care with one of UAB’s pediatric cardiologists.

Whether you are here for a routine procedure, planned or unplanned surgery, or heart transplant evaluation, our social workers are here to assist you. Social workers are available on weekdays between 8 a.m-5p.m and can be reached through the Social Services Department at 205-638-9684.
