PGY1 Residents

Sydney Anderson, Pharm.D. is from Hoover, AL. She received her Pharm.D. from Auburn University's Harrison College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include critical care, transplant, and cardiology. Sydney's residency project will be evaluating the incidence of hyperuricemia in kidney transplant patients on tacrolimus. Her medication use evaluation will focus on diabetic ketoacidosis fluid use. Her continuing education topic will be a review of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in pediatrics. Other projects Sydney will be involved in include training modules for shock, respiratory emergencies, diabetes mellitus, and toxicology. In her free time, Sydney enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing tennis and pickleball, and exploring new gluten free recipes!

Yasmin Cottingham, Pharm.D., MPH is from Birmingham, AL. She received her Pharm.D. and MPH from Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy.  Harrison College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include infectious diseases, pediatric hospital medicine, hematology, and solid organ transplant. Her residency project will be evaluating altered dose Trikafta® in cystic fibrosis patients.  Her medication use evaluation will focus on the evaluation of low dose enoxaparin in the NICU/CVICU and her continuing education topic will focus on new therapies for Sickle Cell Disease. Other projects Yasmin will be involved in include training modules for general pediatrics, antifungals, pulmonary, and anticoagulation. In her free time, Yasmin enjoys being outdoors, going to the gym, spending time with family and friends, and shopping.

Lauren Wyton, Pharm.D. is from Lawrenceville, GA. She received her Pharm.D. from the University of Mississippi. Her professional interests include hematology and oncology, pediatric hospital medicine, and critical care. Lauren’s residency project will evaluate the utilization and effectiveness of nirsevimab.  Her medication use evaluation will focus on the safe dosage range of oral and IV methocarbamol in pediatric patients. Her continuing education topic will focus on oral chemotherapy uses in pediatric patients and handling hazardous medications. Other projects Lauren will be involved in include training modules for rapid sequence intubation, NICU nonstandard fluids, Car-T therapy, and stem cells. In her free time, Lauren enjoys playing pickleball, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
 

PGY2 Pediatrics Resident - Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy

Kelly Anderson, Pharm.D. is from Clarksville, Arkansas.   She received her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and her Pharm.D. from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY1 residency at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.   Her professional interests include pediatric critical care and emergency medicine. Kelly's residency project will focus on THC exposures in pediatric psychiatric patients. Her medication use evaluation will focus on antibiotic selections combined with calcium containing fluids. Her academic lecture at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy will focus on the treatment of meningitis. Other projects Kelly will be involved in include an academic simulation at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy. In her free time, Kelly enjoys exploring Birmingham with her dog, reading, and watching movies.
