Liver Transplant Program

Children’s of Alabama proudly established the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program in 2013, building on a partnership with the UAB Transplant Institute that began in 1993. We specialize in treating rare and complex liver diseases in children, offering advanced liver transplantation services in the state-of-the-art Benjamin Russell Hospital.

Our multidisciplinary team includes transplant surgeons, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease experts, nurse practitioners, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, child life specialists, and more—all dedicated to guiding patients and families through every step of the transplant journey.

We work closely with local pediatricians and specialists across Children’s of Alabama—including ENT, Dermatology, Nephrology, and Cardiology—to provide seamless, coordinated care focused on improving both medical outcomes and quality of life.
