Education
School plays a significant role in every child or adolescent’s life. When a child is hospitalized, it interrupts normal routine. The Junior League of Birmingham Sunshine School Program supports that needed normalization by providing structure and distraction of illness.
Sunshine School Services
- Assist the patient with completing school assignments
- Provide educational and learning activities
- Communicate with school to discuss admission and other school related needs
- Collaborate with medical teams to discuss education plans
- Provide transition school services, school re-entry plans, and 504/IEP accommodations/recommendations as needed
