School plays a significant role in every child or adolescent’s life. When a child is hospitalized, it interrupts normal routine. The Junior League of Birmingham Sunshine School Program supports that needed normalization by providing structure and distraction of illness.
Sunshine School Services
Assist the patient with completing school assignments
Provide educational and learning activities
Communicate with school to discuss admission and other school related needs
Collaborate with medical teams to discuss education plans
Provide transition school services, school re-entry plans, and 504/IEP accommodations/recommendations as needed
