Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic

Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic

The Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinic at Children’s of Alabama within the UAB Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is dedicated to the care of children with Inflammatory Bowel Disease with the aim to provide comprehensive, individualized care for every patient. Our multi-disciplinary clinic is staffed by board-certified pediatric gastroenterology physicians, a full-time dedicated IBD Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Psychologist, Dietitian, social worker and school liaison to meet the needs of children with IBD. Each year we care for over 350 children from all over Alabama and surrounding states with IBD.

Our team is proud to be a member of the ImproveCareNow network which is an international collaboration to improve the care of children with IBD. As part of our improvement process, we track overall remission rate, steroid-free remission rate, and growth status, among many other parameters. We collaborate with other IBD centers around the world and also parents and patients on our improvement efforts.  Our clinic also offers patients the opportunity to participate in current research related to causes of IBD, therapies for IBD and improvement in quality of life.
