Speech-Language Pathology

Children’s speech-language pathologists have extensive knowledge in many areas related to a child’s speech, language, cognition, and feeding/swallowing abilities. Our team serves patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings and are dedicated to the highest quality of care for patients and partnership with parents to best serve their child. 

Speech-language pathologists pathologists are members of the care team in the following specialty clinics at Children’s of Alabama: Aerodigestive Program, Cleft and Craniofacial Center (including Cleft Clinic), ENT, BPD Clinic, Feeding Clinic, and Dysphagia Clinic.

    • Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
    • Modified Barium Swallow (MBS)
    • Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES; Vital Stim & Ampcare on a case by case basis)

  • Passy Muir Valve
  • Pragmatic Language

  • Resonance Disorders (Velopharyngeal Dysfunction) including difficulties secondary to cleft lip and palate
