School Crisis Response Resources

The Amelia Center offers training for schools and other organizations to prepare for the death of a student, staff, or faculty member. Below are immediate resources that your school can utilize in the event of a death. Please feel free to add The Amelia Center as a resource in any information that is given to parents and students.

Schools may add the following statement in any communication that is sent to parents:

The Amelia Center is a place of hope for grieving children, parents and families. The Amelia Center offers individual and family counseling and support groups at no set fee.   • Guidelines for Responding to the Death of a Student or School Staff: This booklet is designed to help school administrators, teachers and crisis team members respond to the needs of students and staff after a loss such as the death of a student or staff member or when deaths occur that affect many people in the community.
  •  Guidelines for Schools Responding to Death by Suicide: These guidelines are designed to help school administrators, teachers, and crisis team members respond to the needs of students and staff after a suicide has impacted the school environment as well as when an individual student’s life may be impacted by a suicide within the family.
