The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s of Alabama specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of oral and craniofacial abnormalities.
The goal of the Oral and Maxillofacial Department is to provide the best patient care in order to train the next generation. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) offers the Advanced Education Program, designed to meet the requirements of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery. This program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education.
Oral and Maxillofacial diagnostic and follow-up services are provided in Clinic 12, 2nd Floor, Lowder Building. Conditions treated include:
Outpatient services such as dental extractions, including removal of wisdom teeth, frenectomy, biopsy and other procedures are available with conscious sedation through the Children’s of Alabama services.
