BIRMINGHAM - The United Merchants Association of Alabama (UMA) is set to kick off a year-round fundraising campaign to benefit Children’s of Alabama. Beginning June 1, for every purchase of the Pepsi family of brands, the UMA will donate a portion of the proceeds to Children’s, the state’s only freestanding pediatric hospital. Donations to Children’s will also be collected at the counter.

In collaboration with Buffalo Rock, more than 200 convenience stores across Alabama will participate in the fundraising efforts. In 2017, UMA donated $10,000 to Children’s through their inaugural campaign which span from July to Sept. This year, the UMA will expand their campaign to last throughout the year.

“We are excited to partner with the United Merchants Association and Buffalo Rock again this year,” said Emily Hornak, director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Cause Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Children’s of Alabama. “Their commitment to Children’s of Alabama and helping ill and injured kids in our state is exceptional.”

Since 1911, Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children, offering inpatient and outpatient services throughout central Alabama. Ranked among the best pediatric medical centers in the nation by US News & World Report, Children’s provided care for youngsters from every county in Alabama, 45 other states and six foreign countries last year, representing more than 677,000 outpatient visits and more than 15,000 inpatient admissions.
