Inside Pediatrics Podcast

PINSON (July 1, 2022) – Pediatrics East celebrated its 65th anniversary July 1, and current and retired physicians and staff and administration gathered at the practice’s Deerfoot location to recognize the milestone.

Dr. Vincent Carnaggio founded the practice in 1957 with a vision to serve East Birmingham. Dr. Andrew Charles Money joined him after five years of growth, and Dr. Howard Bearman joined after that. In 1996, Children’s of Alabama purchased the practice.

Today, Pediatrics East operates two offices, Trussville and Deerfoot, with the original Roebuck location having relocated to Trussville in 2011. The practice has a combined staff of 11 physicians, all of whom are board-certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the practice serves patients ranging from newborns to 21-year-olds. Both offices provide pediatric care to families in Jefferson, St. Clair and Blount counties and the surrounding areas.

Pediatrics East Trussville and Deerfoot proudly received Patient-Centered Medical Home certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in 2013. The NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home is a model of primary care that combines teamwork and information technology to improve care, improve patients’ experience of care and reduce costs. Both offices were recertified in 2022.
