BIRMINGHAM (September 17, 2026) – Over the Mountain Pediatrics recently marked a special milestone: celebrating 45 years in practice. Physicians, staff, and members of Children’s of Alabama leadership gathered for a celebratory lunch at the practice to commemorate the occasion.

Founded in 1981 by Dr. Elizabeth Hawley Hodges, Over the Mountain Pediatrics has built a legacy of providing compassionate, trusted pediatric care while creating a supportive environment for women in medicine. Dr. Linda Stone joined the practice as a full partner in 1986. During a time when balancing the demands of a career in medicine and motherhood presented challenges, Drs. Hodges and Stone supported one another through both endeavors.

Their commitment helped shape a practice that has remained female-led for more than four decades. Hodges longstanding dedication to the practice and pediatrics was recently recognized with the 2026 Wallace Clyde Award, presented by Children’s of Alabama at the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics annual awards dinner. The prestigious award recognizes her contributions to the field and the lasting impact of her work caring for children and supporting the next generation of pediatricians.

Today, Over the Mountain Pediatrics is home to eight board-certified pediatricians who provide quality care for children from birth through young adulthood. The practice continues to maintain its legacy established 45 years ago, with a team dedicated to their patients, families and the Birmingham community.
