Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers Kicks off Fundraiser Benefiting Children’s of Alabama

BIRMINGHAM (April 1, 2024)—Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers is launching a month-long campaign to support the state’s only free-standing pediatric medical facility.

For every service in April, Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers locations across the state will donate $1 to Children’s of Alabama. Since the Changing Oil, Changing Lives campaign started in 2008, more than $1 million has been donated to Children’s.

“We are incredibly grateful for Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers’ commitment to Children’s of Alabama through the Changing Oil, Changing Lives campaign,” said Chandler Bibb, Children’s of Alabama's chief development officer. “Through our partnership, they have helped Children’s provide a creative outlet for our young patients that helps reduce stress and anxiety and promotes emotional well-being while they are in the hospital.”

The company has been the sole supporter of the Children’s Art and Expressive Therapy Program. Child Life specialists with the Children’s of Alabama Child Life and Education Department and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Arts in Medicine work together to create an environment where patients can participate in meaningful art activities. 

“We are again excited to launch our annual campaign, Changing Oil Changing Lives, in support of the art therapy program for patients at Children’s of Alabama,” said Jim Durkin, president of Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers. “We are grateful to our customers and our team for their enthusiastic support of this campaign every year.  We look forward to another successful year and, most importantly, having a positive impact on the treatment provided to patients at Children’s of Alabama.”
