COA Pediatric Neurosurgery Awarded for Submitted Abstracts
December 10, 2018This weekend was the 47th meeting of the AANS/CNS Section Pediatric Neurological Surgery in Nashville. Our group submitted 15 abstracts to this meeting. Eight of these were accepted as oral presentations and 7 as posters. The Section gives a number of awards for the best posters and presentations.
This year, our group won most of them:
- Top Clinical Poster: Quality of life in Benign Tumors - dissertation work of Ali Cutillo
- Schulman Award (best oral presentation given by a resident): Jacob Lepard - Multi-institution series of SEEG
- Hydrocephalus Award (best presentation by a resident about hydrocephalus): EB Kuhn - Transition in the SB clinic
- AAP/SONS Award (best overall presentation): Faizal Haji - Epilepsy surgery in Vietnam as a model for international collaboration.
This is the first time our group has won the Hydrocephalus or Schulman awards. These are longstanding awards and it is a great honor to receive them. It was noted that this is the first time that a single program stood out by “sweeping” the awards at this meeting in this fashion. This is a tribute to the excellent work that everyone in the group does. Every person in the COA neurosurgery enterprise does his or her job with professionalism and excellence, and that shows in both the clinical care we deliver and the research we produce.
Thank you to all for making this Division what it is.
