BIRMINGHAM  – Children’s of Alabama will receive a $10,000 donation from the United Merchants Association of Alabama (UMA) as a result of fundraising efforts across the state.

In collaboration with Buffalo Rock, 200 convenience stores across Alabama participated in a fundraiser for Children’s from July – September of last year. For every purchase of the Pepsi family of brands, the UMA donated a portion of the proceeds and collected donations at the register to support ill and injured children treated at Children’s, the state’s only freestanding pediatric hospital.

“We are continually amazed by the support of the United Merchants Association and Buffalo Rock,” said Emily Hornak, director of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Cause Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Children’s of Alabama. “If it wasn’t for our generous partners, we wouldn’t be able to provide the highest level of care to our patients at Children’s.”

Since 1911, Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children, offering inpatient and outpatient services throughout central Alabama. Ranked among the best pediatric medical centers in the nation by US News & World Report, Children’s provided care for youngsters from every county in Alabama, 45 other states and six foreign countries last year, representing more than 676,000 outpatient visits and more than 15,000 inpatient admissions. With more than 2 million square feet, Children’s is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S. More information is available at childrensal.org.
