Children's of Alabama will host a hot car safety event on Wednesday, May 1, at the Summit in Birmingham. Look and Lock: A Child Safety Event is sponsored by Children’s of Alabama and several other national and state organizations, including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. By attending this event, parents and caregivers will gain valuable knowledge about hot car safety and prevention, as well as the opportunity to win a free age-appropriate car seat and a consultation with our certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians at Safe Kids Alabama.

May 1st is National Heatstroke Prevention Day. According to NHTSA, nearly every state in the United States has been affected by a pediatric vehicular heatstroke death. On average, 37 children die per year due to vehicular heatstroke.

The event will be held near the AMC Cinema on May 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
