Birmingham, Ala. (June 17, 2026) — Children’s of Alabama has been awarded on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals 2026. Newsweek and Statista, Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, presented this prestigious award earlier this month.
The America’s Best Children’s Hospitals 2026 ranking awards the best hospitals in eight pediatric subspecialties: Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology & Gastrointestinal Surgery, Neonatology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics and Pulmonology. The underlying data analysis is based on four data sources:
Nationwide Online Survey: More than ten thousand medical experts with knowledge about pediatric care were asked to recommend leading children’s hospitals in the United States.
Hospital Quality Metrics: Hospital quality metrics with a focus on indicators relevant to the respective subspecialties and accreditations/certifications were considered.
Patient Satisfaction: Evaluations from Google were researched for each children’s hospital as a proxy for patient satisfaction with the hospital.
Statista Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROMS) Implementation Survey: Newsweek and Statista conducted an annual PROMs Implementation Survey to account for the increasing importance of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS).
Based on the study results, Children’s is honored to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals 2026
