Special Interests
Dr. McCollum hails from the state of Texas. She graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN with a degree in Biochemistry. In 2002 she received her Medical Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed her pediatrics internship and residency in Dallas, TX in 2005, and was Chief Resident from 2005-2006. From 2006-2010 Dr. McCollum served as a Pediatric AIDS Corps Physician in Mbabane, Swaziland through the Baylor College of Medicine. As such, she provided HIV care, treatment, and education to local children and families. In 2010 Dr. McCollum and her family moved to Birmingham where she practiced at the After Hours Clinic-Children's South. She began practice with Greenvale Pediatrics in July 2011. She is board certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is married to Dr. David McCollum, and they have three children; Molly, Laine, and Dumisani. Special Interests: Her special interests include breastfeeding, international adoption, and medical homes for underserved children.
