Cast for a Cure Fishing Tournament to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Research at Children's of Alabama

GUNTERSVILLE – The fifth annual Cast for a Cure will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Lake Guntersville State Park (1155 Lodge Drive). The fishing tournament benefits cystic fibrosis research at Children’s of Alabama.

Fishing will begin at safe light (approximately 5 a.m.) with weigh-in at 3 p.m. Registration is available online www.paypal.me/castforacure. The entry fee is $150.

This year’s tournament features a grand prize of $10,000. The payout is guaranteed on 150 boats. An award of $1,000 will be given for the biggest fish.

The tournament is held in honor of Katie Von Hagel, a recent graduate of Gardendale High School living with cystic fibrosis.

Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 people in the United States. Children's of Alabama provides care for nearly 300 CF patients and families in Alabama and surrounding areas. Most patients are diagnosed with CF at birth or before the age of three. Currently, CF has no cure.
