Community Programs

Our school re-entry program helps provide children a smooth transition back into the school setting and larger community after suffering a burn injury. Members of the burn team such as teachers, child life specialists, therapists and pastoral care staff travel to the burned child's school to discuss the patient's needs and experiences when returning to school after a significant absence. Faculty and students have an opportunity to ask questions and explore how they might best help each student return to pre-burn status at school.
Our Burn Center also works closely with numerous firefighter groups to enhance burn awareness and prevention through various educational programs. Members of these firefighter groups also serve as counselors at Camp Conquest for burn injured children, and participate in fundraising activities for the camp.
