Supdural and Epidural Hematoma
I was induced on August 25, 2005 at 6am. By 4pm that afternoon and 3 1/2 hrs of pushing the Dr. suggests forceps. After a lot of questions and against my better judgment I agreed. This attempt was short lived and I was rushed to the OR for a C-section. Finally he was here, and taken to the NICU. I wasn't allowed much time with him that night and when he was brought to me the next day he was began to have a seizure. Again he was rushed away. He was taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, and diagnosed with a Subdural and Epidural Hematoma. Those were scary words for my husband and I but the next two words were the worst...."brain surgery". Over the next couple of days he seemed to stop loosing blood and the Hematomas were healing on there own. During the whole ordeal at Children’s Hospital we were always informed on what was going on with Tucker. The staff there is amazing and they made sure we were prepared to take care of him, under the circumstances. 7 days later we got news that the bleeding had stopped all together and that we could go home, only required to come back every 3 months for CT's to make sure we were still on the right track. Tucker is now a healthy growing 4yr old boy, with no sign of ever having bleeding in his brain to begin with.
