Bone Infection

Trinity's Story By Angela McRae

When Trinity McRae was 9 months old in 2001, her knee started swelling and she developed a high fever. I brought her to Children's Hospital and she was admitted with a bone infection. She stayed in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks and was sent home on a new oral antibiotic. That is significant in the fact that at the same time a friend of mine had a daughter who developed a neck infection. They went to a different area hospital. Her daughter went home with a medicine port for 4 weeks. I was so glad I came to Children's. Trinity fully recovered and is a happy and healthy 8 year old now. I was not an employee of Children's at the time, but my great experience at the hospital as a parent is one of the reasons I applied for a job here. I've been employed here now for 4 years and I am proud to be a Children's employee. I tell the story all the time of my daughters bone infection and how she was a patient here before I was even employed here. I joke that I lived here almost 3 weeks before I was working here.
