Thrombosis

The Pediatric Thrombosis program provides comprehensive care to children who have a deep vein thrombosis (commonly referred to as a blood clot) or are at risk of developing one. The multidisciplinary thrombosis team is committed to providing accurate diagnoses through appropriate testing and imaging studies to effectively manage and prevent blood clots. Our team includes physicians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, nurse, school liaisons, social workers, child life specialists and other health care professionals committed to the care of infants, children and young adults impacted by blood clots.

The program offers a dedicated outpatient thrombosis clinic each week for the management of anticoagulation. In addition, the program provides thrombophilia testing and anticipatory guidance to children who have a higher risk of developing a blood clot at an early age due a positive family history.
