Dr. Bashinsky is a native of Birmingham and the son of a local Pediatrician, Dr. Leo Bashinsky. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.A. degree in 1970 and a M.D. degree in 1974. He did his Pediatric internship and residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and at U.A.B. Children's Hospital. He has practiced in Birmingham since 1977 and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He has served as Pediatrician for the Crippled Children's Clinic (now known as Children's Rehabilitation Services), and as President of the Medical Staff of The Children's Hospital. He is a member of several medical societies and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He and his wife, Becky, have three grown children and four grandchildren. They attend Covenant Presbyterian Church in Homewood.
