BIRMINGHAM (Oct. 1, 2019) - Throughout October, Children’s of Alabama will celebrate its heroes of all sizes with Superhero Month. The fifth annual celebration, sponsored by Books-A-Million, Inc., kicks off with the annual superheroes window washers visit and culminates with a superhero comic book carnival at the end of the month.

This year’s theme, “Heroes Heal Here,” represents both the patients, our heroes who heal at Children’s, and our staff, the heroes that heal them. The month-long celebration honors the strength, courage and resilience of patients, their families and staff through several superhero-themed events, including watching superhero movies, teddy bear clinics and a superhero glow party. As part of the celebration, Children’s Benjamin Russell campus will be illuminated blue each night in honor of its superhero patients and staff.

“We are incredibly grateful for Books-A-Million and their continued support of Children’s of Alabama through Superhero Month,” said Emily Hornak, director of cause marketing and corporate partnerships at Children’s of Alabama. “Superhero Month allows us to celebrate and honor our strong patients, hardworking staff and supportive families. We’re thankful to be in a position where we can highlight the real-life superheroes who heal at our hospital.”

The Children’s and Books-A-Million social media channels will feature stories spotlighting patients, families and staff throughout October. You can also take part in the fun by snapping your own Superhero photo and using the hashtag #HeroesHealHere.
