BIRMINGHAM (Aug. 20, 2012) – Children’s of Alabama announces the launch of Miracle Makers for Children’s, a year-round statewide campaign designed to increase awareness and funding support for the nationally-recognized specialized programs and services offered by the state’s only freestanding pediatric hospital.
Throughout the year, Children’s will partner with stores, restaurants and other corporate entities as well as individuals across Alabama as Miracle Makers. Each Miracle Maker partner will commit to supporting Children’s through a variety of fundraising efforts, including percentage of sales, donations, online promotions and special events. All proceeds will directly benefit the patients at Children’s.
“As a not-for-profit hospital, we depend on the support of our donors, corporate sponsors and friends to help meet the ever-changing healthcare needs of patients at Children’s of Alabama,” said Janie Jones, Community Development Coordinator for Children’s. “We are excited to roll out the Miracle Makers for Children’s campaign which allows businesses and individuals a variety of different ways to raise funds and awareness for the hospital throughout the year. Every dollar that is raised stays in Alabama and has a direct impact on our patients, families and the community. Community support is essential to making Children’s what it is today and what it will be tomorrow.”
Children’s of Alabama has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children since 1911, offering inpatient and outpatient services throughout central and north Alabama. Last year, families made more than 634,000 outpatient and nearly 14,000 inpatient visits to Children’s from every county in Alabama and from 47 other states. With more than 2 million square feet, Children’s is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S. and has been ranked among the top children’s hospital programs in the country for the past three years by US News & World Report.
