Physical Therapists at The Children's Hospital provide evaluation and treatment for children with gross motor delays or at risk for falling behind in motor skills as compared to peers. Evaluation and treatment of developmental delay involves a team approach with physicians.  Other professionals often involved are occupational therapists, speech pathologists, school and/or early intervention programs.

Physical Therapists in our facility have expertise in evaluating and planning intervention strategies for children with overall developmental delays associated with:

  • Prematurity
  • Surgical intervention
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Seizure disorders
  • Genetic Disorders
  • Failure to thrive
  • Foreign adoption

Physical Therapists are specially trained to provide parent education and home activities for families to work toward goals for their children.  Physical Therapists communicate with other providers/programs to coordinate services, including community activities, school-based intervention, early intervention and other therapies.
