BIRMINGHAM (Jan. 30, 2012) – On Feb. 2, the Alabama Association of Nonprofits, in partnership with the Alabama Broadcasters Association, is taking one day to harness the power of individual contributions statewide.
The inaugural Alabama Gives Day is designed to connect new and existing donors with hundreds of Alabama nonprofit organizations, including Children's of Alabama, to fund programs and services.
Here is how the event will work: Beginning at midnight on Feb. 2, anyone wanting to donate to Children’s may visit www.alabamagives.org and select Children’s of Alabama as the charity of choice. Donations are made by credit card and must be at least $10.
Children’s is a private, not-for-profit hospital that serves as the primary site of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) pediatric medicine, surgery, research and residency programs. Ten of its divisions – pulmonology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, urology, neonatology, cancer, cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and nephrology—are ranked in the Top 50 Children's Hospital Programs by US News & World Report. The hospital celebrated its 100th anniversary last year and is currently building a 760,000-square-feet expansion facility. For more information, visit www.childrensal.org.
