TUSCALOOSA (Dec. 2, 2011) – Big Al, the University of Alabama’s mascot, will be joining Santa at the Tuscaloosa Sam’s Club (1401 Skyland Blvd.) on Saturday, Dec. 3, to visit and pose for pictures. The two will be arriving by fire truck shortly before 10 a.m. and will be appearing till 2 p.m.
The photo opportunity is free, but donations are encouraged and benefit the ill and injured patients treated at Children’s of Alabama.
Children's is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children and is one of the 10 busiest pediatric medical centers in the nation. It is home to Alabama's only Level I pediatric trauma center, a leading pediatric hematology/oncology center, the state's only pediatric blood and marrow transplant program and the only pediatric burn center in the southeastern U.S. It is a private, not-for-profit hospital that serves as the primary site of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) pediatric medicine, surgery, research and residency programs.
