Description

BIRMINGHAM – Children’s of Alabama’s third annual Superhero Month returns to light up the lives of ill and injured children. This October, the uplifting “The Power of Children’s” campaign, presented by Books-A-Million, is back with encouraging activities to instill confidence, bravery and inspiration into the Birmingham hospital’s kids and families!

“Partnering with Children’s of Alabama for Superhero Month is something we look forward to throughout the year,” said Scott Kappler, chief marketing officer at Books-A-Million. “We’re honored to celebrate the true superheroes – the brave, inspiring patients and the doctors who work endlessly to save lives. This month is dedicated to patients and their families to highlight their own superpowers in battling illnesses and injuries.”

The month-long celebration will take off Monday, October 2 with Mondays at the Movies and a Superhero Batman LEGO party – followed by a superhero meet and greet on Thursday, October 5. Later in the month, patients and their families will receive capes and masks, while being able to participate in arts and crafts with caped crusaders in the main lobby! Superhero month activities also include a superhero glow party in the room of magic, a superhero teddy bear clinic and wall sized coloring boards for patients to create drawings featuring their own superpowers. Superhero-themed events will continue throughout the month leading up to a special visit on Wednesday, October 11 from not-so-average window washers!

“We are so thankful to Books-A-Million for their continued support of Children’s of Alabama and Superhero Month,” said Kelly Baker, community engagement coordinator for Children’s of Alabama. “Superhero Month allows us to take the time and celebrate our patients, staff and families for being the real-life superheroes that they are.”
