Description
TRUSSVILLE – Pediatrics East, a pediatric practice with offices located in Trussville and on Deerfoot Parkway, recently achieved the top-ranking Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recertification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

PCMH certification is the most widely-used way to transform primary care practices into medical homes. Practices that are recognized emphasize care coordination and communication. Peds East was originally certified in 2013.

Physicians at Pediatrics East include: Angela Redmond, M.D., Garland Youngblood, M.D., Rebecca Webster, M.D., Peily Soong, M.D., Ann-Katrin Wilson, M.D., Katherine Rochelle, M.D., Diane Kutny, M.D., Michael Miller, M.D., Phillip Harmon, M.D., Diane Dietlein, M.D. and Mark Lytle, M.D.

“Obviously we are proud to share this news with our community,” said Reginald Hope, practice manager at Pediatrics East. “We think this designation is just an outward expression of the care we provide our families and hope the results are higher quality and lower costs.”

The NCQA regularly checks the certified practice’s progress and results using a standardized point system and six must-pass elements. Since 1990, NCQA has been a driving factor in improving the health care system, helping to elevate the issue of health care quality to the top of the national agenda. Organizations that incorporate the seal into marketing materials must first pass a comprehensive, rigorous review and annually report on their performance.

Pediatrics East opened in East Lake in 1957 when Dr. Vincent Carnaggio wanted to serve the pediatric community in eastern Birmingham. Dr. Andrew Charles Money joined him in 1962. In 1996, the practice became part of the Children’s Health System, now Children’s of Alabama. The following year, the office in Deerfoot opened. Pediatrics East opened its office in Trussville in 2011.
