BIRMINGHAM (May 10, 2013) – Birmingham magazine, in conjunction with Alabama Baby & Child, recently named Children’s of Alabama as the winner in its 2013 Parent’s Choice Award for Best Kids’ Healthcare facility.
Additionally, Dr. David Glasgow of Greenvale Pediatrics was the winner in the coveted Best Pediatrician award. Dr. Glasgow has been practicing at Greenvale’s Brook Highland office since 1974, and the practice also includes offices in Hoover and Alabaster. Glasgow lives in Birmingham and attended medical school at the University of Alabama.
Children’s has provided specialized medical care for ill and injured children since 1911, offering inpatient and outpatient services throughout central Alabama. Last year, families made more than 634,000 outpatient and nearly 14,000 inpatient visits to Children’s from every county in Alabama and from 47 other states. With more than 2 million square feet, Children’s is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S. and has been ranked among the top children’s hospital programs in the country for the past three years by US News & World Report. Dr. Brian Dudgeon, also of Greenvale Pediatrics, was a runner up in the “Best Pediatrician” category while Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was a runner up in the “Best Hospital NICU” category and Greenvale Pediatrics was a runner up in the “Best Kids’ Healthcare Facility” category.
For the third year in a row, Birmingham magazine partnered with Alabama Baby & Child to produce the Parent’s Choice awards, where nearly 5,000 people participated in an online voting survey and entered businesses and services they thought were the best in 81 different categories.
