Children’s staff has been in close contact with Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) officials, who have informed us that, at this point, there is no evidence that any of the contaminated products from New England Compounding Center (NECC), the company linked to the fungal meningitis outbreak, have been shipped to Children’s of Alabama or any other Alabama facility.

The safety and well-being of our patients and their families is our utmost priority. As a matter of precaution, we have reviewed our practices and procedures and have found all to be in order and in keeping with the highest industry standards.

Children’s, along with 43 other hospitals and clinics in Alabama did receive certain other products from NECC. Once we were notified by ADPH of the concerns with the company’s products, we immediately withdrew the medication from our supply even though no specific issues had been raised about the safety of that particular product in our inventory.

If you have specific concerns or questions you may want to contact your primary care physician.
