ICD-10 (finally) arrived on Oct. 1, and Children’s and its partners at UAB in the Departments of Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery were ready. As many now know, ICD-10 vastly increased the numbers of diagnostic coding options allowing for improved specificity in data collection. Planning for the rollout of ICD-10 began years ago at Children’s and UAB in order to prepare for the move.
Children’s ICD-10 task force worked directly with the Department of Pediatrics’ billing office and the broader UAB ICD-10 transition team to accomplish the migration from ICD-9 to ICD-10.
Children's launched a website solely for ICD-10 news and information at www.childrensal.org/icd10.
